30th bday!

Today is Philip's 30th birthday and he just left for work. this is his third in a row. doesn't make for much of a birthday :( but I tried to turn his birthday into a whole weekend celebration. I love birthdays. and I wanted him to feel special and loved since he is having to work. 

I contacted a delicious bakery in Morehead and had a cake delivered to the ER Friday night:) he brought me home two pieces and it was the best cake I have ever had!

I hope he had a good weekend despite the fact that he had to slave away the whole time. 

We are so lucky to have him in our lives and are so grateful for how hard he works for our family.

hi ho, hi ho...

...it's back to work I go.

Yesterday was my first day back to work. I was nervous about it. Mostly because I was afraid I would not be able to start an IV, or remember what drug does what. or forget how to do CPR (ok if I forgot that one, i should probably just quit). but seriously, i was anxious about it! And I arrive to work, and they assign me to the trauma area. seriously!? i haven't been there since I was like 2 months pregnant. 

However, it made the day by go quickly. I did only work 8 hours. i couldn't be away from Ainsley for 12 hours yet. So it was my first 8 hours away, and Philip's first 8 hours alone with her. I was anxious for all three of us!!:) but we all did great. Philip took wonderful care of her (I knew he would). He even brought her up to work to surprise me and say hi. and I got to show her off. too bad she was grumpster and was giving everyone the stink eye instead of her adorable grin:)

Happy Friday! I'm 12 weeks!!! 

weekend update

Saturday was a busy day of 'surprises' for me. one of my best friends, megan, turned 30. Her sweet husband planned a surprise tailgate at her fav place, Keeneland. Philip worked the night before, so he had to miss out. But us girls went:)

That night, we had a surprise party for Philip and two of his best friends. Him, Matt and Ryan all turn 30 within weeks of each other. So his wives and I have been planning a little surprise party for them for months. It was difficult trying to get 3 families to the same place at the same time. especially when 2 of us got caught in wreck traffic on man o war making us an hour late:/ BUT it still worked out and the guys were surprised. well, Philip and Ryan were. Matt said he knew all along. 

Last night my mom needed a sub for her Bunko group, and asked me to come since she was hosting it. Since two of my good friends Ann and Rachel play, of course I agreed:) I didnt know what to expect I had never played before.  Dad watched Ainsley for me while the girls played downstairs. and my bunko dreams came true and i rolled a bunko! I was so happy I put my card on our fridge. 

Tonight we are going out to dinner to celebrate 3 years of married bliss:) or close enough;) . but 3 years of working on the best friendship I have ever had. and a love that runs deeper than I ever thought  possible.

the sun is shining and we are loving the warm weather! loving spring and can't wait for summer:)

our first tulips blooming! since yesterday we have had so many more purple tulips pop up! 

We are finally in a routine around here. which only means things will change and the routine will go out the window:) but for now, and for the most part,  Ainsley and I are into a good one.

Tonight I am making a birthday dinner for my friend Emily. It is ravioli in the crock pot from a pinterest recipe I found. I will let you know how it goes. My mom made her one of her favorite desserts (which I happen to love also) so at least the dessert portion will be good if nothing else!

abundant Life

As I write this, Ainsley is sleeping soundly on my chest. best feeling in the world. i mean, I love this little girl so much. it's crazy. 

she is 10 weeks today. double digits!

Don't get me wrong. sometimes its hard. and sometimes it's really hard. but for the most part, it is awesome. and getting much moreso every day. it's easy for me to get caught up in worry over so many little things. but as I am learning how to handle things better, and as we are getting to know each other better, things are getting easier and easier:) 

I have been doing short devotions from a book called 'Jesus Calling'. they are so perfect for me because they are geared toward having peace and getting rid of anxiety (every day I am like 'wow this is talking to me). today's was especially good for me:

Yesterday was the first day we have gotten to hang out as a family in a week. It was so nice. We took a long walk around the neighborhood with Jackson and Ainsley. We got to talk about lots of stuff and reconnect. it's nice to feel like we are on the same page again. 

We got home and pulled the sprinkler out for Jax. he LOVES the sprinkler. we took beanie outside and let her lay in the shade and play while we watched jax. then we (philip) grilled out and had a delicious summer meal. so excited for good weather.
