Life Lately

We love summertime! Well, most days. Some days I have threatened to go back to work and send the kids to daycare all day every day, because 24/7 of them needing to be entertained is a lot. I’m like go outside! Go upstairs! Go downstairs! I don’t care just GO! But seriously we are enjoying our summertime together (most the time) and have loved being outside, hanging with family, and not worrying about school!

Ainsley went to Bluegrass Christian Camp (day camp) and I was so nervous about it. I just knew she would not handle being away from home 830-5 for a week. I was fully convinced i would pick her up Monday and she would hate it and i would not take her back. So i spent all day praying. And other people did too. And the Lord is so faithful. Ainsley LOVED IT. She got to swim, hike, rest in her cabin (she was so upset she got a bottom bunk), do devotional, play games, and make new friends. I am so proud of her for getting out of her comfort zone and actually enjoying it.

Meanwhile it meant lots of quality time with me and Parker:) i don’t know how people have one child- it’s so much easier having two to occupy each other!

We have spent good time in Georgetown where nanny and pop rigged up a gymnast ring just like in the Greatest Showman. Ainsley loves pretending to be the girl on the movie and she is actually pretty good at it! And of course at Uncle Bubby and Aunt Rachels pool.

Ainsley also had her first friend sleepover with two girls from her class, Emma and Harper. It was a lot of fun until darkness rolled in. The girls were not used to sleeping without their mommas and i ended up laying in the tent with them until midnight. Sweet Harper called her mom around 10 to come get her. But the girls had a blast- we were just all so tired the next day.

Parker also got a tent set up in his room and loved sleeping in his “camp”, which he slept in the rest of the week. Every day he would drag more crap in there until the end of the week looked like this:

We have gotten to have several play dates with good friends.

And of course just hanging at home!!!

The ease of summer is so nice. No schedule, no demands, is freeing in a lot of ways. Some days it drives me crazy and i crave structure, but for the most part i have loved waking up when the kids do, sitting on the back porch drinking coffee while the kids eat breakfast and play zingo (current game they are obsessed with). Of course if you talk to me some evenings i will tell you i am going crazy and i can’t wait for school to start back :)
