Christmas

Im going to blog about my favorite holiday because Christmas is officially over and this will help me battle my PCD.
We kicked off the festivities with the parade in downtown Georgetown.

After we got back from the lake house, I made the mistake of sending Philip on his own to buy our Christmas tree. Lets just say there was a lot of sap, a chainsaw and pieces of wood flying across my living room.

He also put up the outdoor lights (with a lift) again, and they looked gorgeous!

We had our annual Overall Christmas Party early this year, and I believe this was the first year every family member was here (even one week old Baby Claire!).

We were able to hit up a few festive parties.

We even got in some Christmas baking.

Aunt Annies Christmas Eve brunch was, as always, delicious!

Parker lost his first tooth at Brian and Lindsays on Christmas Eve! He was so excited that the tooth fairy and Santa might have gotten to meet right outside his bedroom door :)

We sprinkled reindeer food (which I had purposely forgotten about but Parker remembered at the last minute). Philip whipped up some awesome oat/sprinkle medley.

Christmas morning was as magical as we hoped it would be. Parker asked for a new switch game and Ainsley asked for a label maker.

That afternoon we went to Nanny Pops and had Christmas with them and Aunt Ellen. It was so warm out we spent time playing out in the sun.

We all got matching bracelets with the word "Loved" inscribed on them. A small reminder of how much each of us are loved.

The next day we had Christmas at Joy's. It was full of presents, laughs, yummy food, more presents and lots of love!

My cousin Tiffany came up from GA and we went shooting on the farm.

Then we had mud bowl, and it was actually in the 60s and a perfect day for some football.

It was one of the best Christmases. After last year it was so wonderful to have a (mostly) normal Christmas. We missed several family members due to Covid, but we are hopeful next year will be totally back to normal :)
Merry Christmas to anyone reading this. I hope you had a joy filled holiday and had time to reflect on the birth of our Savior.
Joy to the world, the Lord has come!

Thanksgiving

We did Thanksgiving a little different this year. Philip worked the night before that Thursday so when he got up Thanksgiving Day, we headed to the lake house. My fam came with us early and stayed Thursday night. Friday the rest of the family came down and we ate our celebratory lunch then. We had great weather and loved relaxing and being somewhere different.

Before we left, Megan and I ran a 5K at Keeneland. I was impressed with myself for not walking once!

It was a very relaxing (well for me, mom did most the cooking) holiday.
We loved having our family there!

Meeting the Govenor

As soon as they could sign up, our kids were ready to get the Covid vaccine. They were ready to get protected, start doing things again, and venture out into what we hoped would be normalcy. We signed them up for a clinic ran by the health department that i was working. Philip brought them in and i picked a friend to give them their shots. They both did so good and we were so proud of them!
A month or so later Philip was asked to “represent St Claire” at the capitol. It was very much downplayed when he agreed to it but he quickly came to find out it was a much bigger deal than he thought. He was told 2 nights before that he needed a speech prepared and that he would be introduced by the governor. I scrambled to find dress shoes that fit the kids and figure out outfits for all of us. Which all went out the window bc i planned for an outdoor event and it rained the whole day and was moved inside.
Govenor Beshear was so welcoming and normal and easy to talk to. He was so sweet to our kids.
Parker jumped right in and asked if he could hold his shield. He had each child sit at his desk , gave them their own pen, and let them “sign a bill”.
As you can see Parker had no problem getting comfortable.

Philip gave an amazing speech commemorating the lives lost in KY due to Covid. It was well written and well given and we were so proud of him.i was so afraid parker would fall out of his seat or scream in the middle of the ceremony. He managed to make it through with only a few pen marks on their white covered fancy seats.
The day they were eligible they got their second vaccine and again, took it like champs!
We feel so good protecting them as best as we can.
I can say that I am one proud wife and one proud momma.

Life Lately

Oh, Hello. I have not written in months and then it became overwhelming to know where to start. But I will do a quick catch up of life. Maybe ill individually blog about these things, maybe I wont but thats ok:)
After we got back from Holiday World, I re-entered the working world. I am now the school nurse at Liberty Elementary. I work for the health department and it is part time but I love Liberty, the staff and the children there. I enjoy working again, even if it is vastly different from the world of emergency medicine.

The kids started 3rd and kindergarten and while school looks different with Covid, we are grateful we got to go back to in person school.

The very first day of school, I contracted Covid-19. However I went undiagnosed for 5 days, continued to work and take care of my kids all weekend until Monday I lost my taste. I isolated in the basement while Philip was a rock star upstairs doing all the things. I watched Parkers 6th birthday from the porch window and it was one of the saddest moments for me. BUT, we all survived and it could have been worse, and for that we are grateful.

Parker turned SIX. We had to cancel his big birthday party and it was heartbreaking for everyone, but we made the best of it. Nanny and Pop brought his presents over and I got to watch from a distance. Joy also came by and we did a driveway celebration.

We spent several weekends and the end of quarantine at the Lake House. We are loving having a get away to go to. It is so nice escaping for even one day in the beauty of Nancy, KY. and not having wifi makes it even better:)

Philip and I took a trip for our friend Erin's 40th birthday. We ventured to St. John and it was one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. We would love to go back and take the kids as it truly was an amazing place.

Parker played flag football and Ainsley is still doing gymnastics. We had lots of cheerleaders come watch Parker at his games, and Ainsley had her first competition which she would only let me come to. She did amazing and we could not be more proud of her.

My sweet and sassy grandmother passed away on October 10, 2021. I was able to visit with her days before she passed and even though she asked me who I was, she remembered me and just said she got 'all us girls confused'. I was able to give her a chocolate and brush her hair, two of her favorite things. She is already sorely missed but we are happy knowing she is with my Grandpa in heaven, and that we will get to see them both again.

Fall and Halloween are kicking off and I am so ready for the cool weather and all things fall.

This is a quick recap, but wanted to hit the highlights. Being a working woman has thrown me for a bit of a loop after being out of it for so long. I am struggling with trying to continue the things I am so used to doing (working out, cooking, cleaning, BSF). I am slowly starting to get a new routine down though!

God has been so gracious to our family this past year and while He continues to show up, I ignorantly continue to be surprised at His faithfulness.
