Life Lately

We have been soaking up the fall weather and fall festivities. We have enjoyed our last few days to walk to get Ainsley home from school, and the kids stop (every time) to "check on their berries". They squish little red berries onto a fence post, making "pie" and then let it "set" until we come back. And much to our neighbors chagrin, they jump in every leaf pile they see.

Parker is doing karate and is earning stripes on his belt all the time. He seems to enjoy it and the discipline aspect is definitely not hurting either:)

Ainsley is still really into gymnastics. She takes class once a week and has mastered her cartwheel and bridge kickover. She loves flipping and tumbling all over the house.

We helped Mom and Dad pack Thanksgiving Food baskets at the amen house with some friends. The kids did much better than I anticipated and we were actually productive, getting 200 baskets packed!

Donielle and Matt invited us to their churches' fall festival, which was so much fun. The kids wore out the inflatables, rode a pony, took a hay ride, and played lots of games.

We've had several playdates and Ainsley got to go to a play with one of her school friends at the Lexington Opera House.

Also this week, Philips grandpa, Papa, passed away. We are headed to Michigan tomorrow to say goodbye. While we are so sad he is no longer with us, we are so grateful for the wonderful memories and I am so thankful both of our kids got to know him before he went to be with the Lord.

Halloween

This year Halloween got moved from the night of the 31st, to the following Saturday (3-5pm) due to weather. All kinds of people were upset about it and ranting on social media. It worked out ok for us, as we had family from MI in and they got to be a part of trick or treating with us on Saturday.

Ainsley got to dress up for school that day. Her school does it big for Halloween, and the teachers in each grade all dress as a theme. The 3rd grade dressed as trophies (all painted gold standing on a box) and won this year. The kids love it. Ainsley couldn't wear her spider girl costume because she can not get it on and off by herself. So for school time she was a kitty :) Parker also got to dress up and had a parade with his class at his school.

When A got home from school we made rice Krispy monsters.

Our Y made quick last minute plans and had trick or treating indoors on actual Halloween. We ventured over there for a bit and felt good about doing something on the 31st.

We hosted a baby shower for Brian and Lindsay Saturday morning, which is why a lot of the MI family came into town. Most people hung around for trick or treating, and my parents came up too. It was different traipsing around in the daylight, but the weather was good and the kids had fun.

Time change was also this weekend and Parker has not slept past 5am since. Send all the coffee.

Life Lately

Fall is FINALLY here after what seemed like the longest summer ever. I am so happy to be in sweatshirts, boots, walk in crunchy leaves and turn on that fireplace!

Parker finished out his first soccer season, and on his last game he scored his first (and only) goal. It was in the wrong goal, but he ran back screaming “I won ! I won!” And i was yelling like he’d won the championship. He really liked soccer and will probably play again in the spring.

Philip and I each took a kid on a date and our experiences were quite different. Ainsley got dressed up and went to a fancy restaurant where the waiter called her “Miss Overall”. She ordered her food by herself, used her manners, ordered “adult food” and chose water.
Parker had to be told not to lick the table, and he kept slipping bits of chicken and rice into his water cup.
We both had good quality time with each child, but maybe next time we can switch lol

We painted pumpkins with Uncle Bubby & fam- and Ainsley and AB lasted a lot longer than the other 2 at painting. But they all created pretty lil pumpkins.

Parker had a field trip to the orchard with his preschool class. He has a group of 3 other boys that are thick as thieves and he is really enjoying being around older boys. Not sure his teachers are loving it as much as he is :)

Anna Beth was also there on a field trip and we found her in the pumpkin patch!

We celebrated a couple birthdays of some sweet friends.

Liberty had family movie night in the gym and we packed our blanket up and went up to watch Charlie Brown and the great pumpkin and a Garfield Halloween. We chowed down on popcorn and Ainsley got really upset about Garfield and Odie being stuck in a haunted house, leading to lots of tears there and the ride home.

We had a family bonfire and the kids had a blast climbing on mud piles, digging in the dirt, riding 4 wheels and roasting marshmallows (Parker called them mushrooms).

Both of my kids are in a huge LEGO phase. Ainsley will sit and build hours on end going through each instruction by herself. Parker loves to build and create and tells everyone “my pop says I’m a great builder”.
