Secret's Out! like my belly.

Yes, my belly is growing. So is our family. In February we will going from a family of 2 to a family of 3:)
Philip and I are expecting a little baby!!!

We are so so excited and feel so blessed that God has chosen us to be the parents of this little 'bean' growing in my belly. It has been one of the most awesome/unique/sick times of my life. We are over the moon excited. It has been hard for me to be super excited up to this point, because I have been so overwhelmingly sick. BUT, I know the sickness won't last forever and that it just means my body is adjusting and taking care of the baby. So the first trimester for me was about surviving. and in 3 more days- i will have done just that; survived the first trimester!!! :) (only with the help of my wonderful husband and amazing mom. and lots of prayers!)

As of today, we are 12 weeks 4 days along. Baby is as big as a peach (3 in long). Which is crazy because I remember when it was as big as a poppy seed. Somehow I have a small little 'pooch' even though I am still down from pre-pregnancy weight. We are due Feb 8. We have seen the baby twice now through ultrasound at our OB.
Baby Overall's first pic:)
We found out we were pregnant on May 31. We saw the baby for the first time on July 2 and again on July 9. I will never forget Philip's face when he saw our little heart beat.

We haven't gotten to personally tell everyone we want to, but I wanted to start blogging about it so family and friends could stay up to date. I know it seems weird but i'm still not ready to make the official 'facebook announcement' or have it posted about on FB. I could go more into detail about why, but ill spare you :)
11 weeks 4 days:)
I have many stories to tell about pregnancy (the good, bad, ugly, pretty) but I will save them for separate posts.

"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there."

Weekend Wrap Up. I'm back!

Hi, remember me? I seemed to have neglected my blog, yet again. but today starts my return!

This weekend started mine and Philip's stretch of 2 weeks off together. We are getting used to being home at the same times and enjoying each other in a normal environment. I am loving it:)

Saturday was the Wilhoite Family Reunion! We had a good time and luckily the weather held off for us to enjoy eating, playing games and laughing.
matt and rachel thought it started at 1 instead of noon... sorry you missed pic!

even emma wore her name tag
Sunday we spent the day at Lake Herrington with our Life Group (minus meg and brian:( ). at 930 am the weather was looking not-so-hot but they trusted my instincts and we went on with the day. i am now nicknamed Amanda Meck the weather predicter, because the day turned out BEAUTIFUL! We packed snacks, sandwiches, drinks and had a lovely, relaxing day. We floated in rafts, the boys played ball, and we maybe got too much sun. We didn't end up leaving the water until after 5 and had to drag Nick B off the back of the boat even then.
jordan, baby avery, ali and me:)

Hope everyone had a happy weekend!!!

Beatin the Heat

It has been HOTT this week. Over 100 degrees and just sweltering.
I have been leaving jackson in the house this week when I leave, because the one time I put him out, he laid on the cold tile for 2 hours after I got home. poor little guy.
Philip and I got up today and debated going to the pool. we decided unless we were on rafts the entire time, it would be just too hot.
So we decided to get Jackson a baby pool.
after 3 stores we found one at Toys-R-Us

He loves it! Philip thought we should try to put Maya in it and see if she loved it too. ;)

Lake Barkley

Last Saturday we took off for our annual Wilhoite Family Vacation!

It was a short trip for us this year because Philip had to get back to work, as did Matt, and AJ was heading to FL the last half of the week.  so our 'house' made it a short week and all came back together early. But the few days that we were there were such a good time!

Mom found us an awesome house that overlooked the lake. It had a spacious screened in porch and a living room for all of us to fit in. it was what we like to call a 'steal'. :) Too bad no one in the family knows the meaning of sleeping in. even my brother was getting up at the crack of dawn, which I was most disappointed in. ;)

We rented a pontoon sunday and monday. We only had one jet ski this year (don't ask) but it worked out great for us :)

We left just before the temperatures got over 100 degrees. which is funny because the reason we quit going to Hilton Head was because it was just too hot there. So we started going a little closer, to the lake. I think that no matter where we go, we bring the heat.
how we stayed cool

Emma did great on her first vacation, but I think by the end of the week it was almost too hot for her to get outside.

I was sad that the vacation wasn't a full week, but happy that it means Philip is now done with his residency and he has all of July to relax and be home (minus one week he is going to FL). I can't wait to be a normal couple this month!! :)

Graduation

I have neglected my blog. My # 1 reader (Aunt Ellen) has been telling me to 'please blog!' for weeks!

Last night was Philip's graduation ceremony. Every year, the UK emergency department has a nice dinner and ceremony at Spindletop for the graduating residents. All the residents, attending, faculty and spouses come to eat, drink and watch the presentations.

It was a really nice ceremony where the program director, Dr Bowers, put together a slide show on each graduate. Thanks to Philip's mom, she had several funny stories to share with everyone about Philip growing up:)

I am also the very proud wife of the 'Resident of the Year'. Philip has worked so hard the past 3 years and worked the hardest this last year as administrative chief. I have watched the countless hours and hard work he has put in to his role. I am very proud of him and the doctor that he has become:)

It seems like just yesterday I was sending him out the door with a kiss to his first shift as an intern :)

After the ceremony, there is a traditional 'roast' at a chosen bar. all of the residents roast the attendings and then the interns and second years roast the third years. they spend weeks dressing up like each other and taping around the department. making fun of them for things they did during residency. it's always very entertaining. and last night was no exception. ( I was a little nervous I would get drug into Philip's roast since I work with all of these people, but I threatened their lives and luckily they listened to me). They did however order a Justin Bieber wig to play Philip and it was scary how much it looked like him!

Philip has 2 shifts left and then he is done at UK. Morehead has given him the month of July off to recuperate (so nice-- who does that?!). He will start his first 'big boy' job in August at St Claire.

I am so excited for this new chapter of his life to start. But selfishly I am sad we will never work together again. It is nice to be in the same work place, where you can just walk over and find each other to talk or vent. I will miss that a lot. but mostly, I am excited for him :)

2 (or 14) years old!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jackson!!!
His birthday was actually on Tuesday but we celebrated today. Because we may or may not have forgotten on the actual day (oops!). I realized it yesterday and since we were both off today this worked out better anyway:)
We took him to Bluegrass Barkery to get his birthday cake and birthday toy. He loved it:)
The people are Bluegrass Barkery took his 'birthday picture' and posted it on their facebook page. cute idea, but we couldnt get jackson to sit still long enough!
